Research shows that parental involvement in school makes a difference in how a student performs. Parental involvement sets a tone that school is important and that learning is important. At Hembree Springs we are fortunate to have an administration and staff that welcome and encourage family involvement.
We also recognize that families need options on how they can best support the school. Here are several different ways you can get involved and help set your child on the path to lifelong learning.
Join PTA
Your PTA membership shows you support the PTA and our programs. A strong PTA membership demonstrates to our staff, our community and to State and National PTA that Hembree Springs families are involved. Our membership strength is also a key consideration in State and National PTA grant funding.
Your membership also entitles you to discounts at various national and local vendors including: Hertz (20% discount), MetLife, Sharp (15-50% discount), T-Mobile (14% discount), Chattahoochee Nature Center (10% off family membership), Fernbank (10% membership discount), Atlanta History Center (10% membership discount), Zoo Atlanta ($10 off membership purchased via phone), Alliance Theatre (20% of group tickets for some events). If you register your PTA card with National PTA, you will receive a $10 coupon to Office Max.
Donate
The HSES PTA does not ask your children to sell wrapping paper or cookie dough or run laps to raise money. Instead we are funded through family and community donations. No more door to door sales and 100% of the money stays right here at Hembree Springs. If you like the PTA programs and events, please donate to the Hembree Springs PTA.
Volunteer
To make dreams come true for our students, our staff and our families, we need volunteers!! Our volunteers embody the belief that involvement in your child’s education has a positive influence for your child, for the school and for yourself. It is a way to give back and to make a difference. Because our volunteers are so important, we strive to have offer all kinds of opportunities. Opportunities for new parents. Opportunities for existing parents. Activities that can be done from home. Activities that afford the opportunity to be at school and in the classroom. Programs that are spread-out all year. Programs that are concentrated into short windows. Jobs that require 30 minutes a month. Jobs that are more involved. Please review our programs and let us know how you would like to help.
To indicate your interest please fill out our online volunteer form.
Once you have signed up to volunteer, make sure to log your hours for the school.
Participate
There are many events you can participate in with your child. If you need events after school or on weekends, join us for Curriculum Night, Family Spirit Night, attend the fall carnival Freaky Friday, march in the Youth Day Parade etc. If you can attend day time events, join us for Special Visitors Day. If you need things that can be done at home: collect box tops, help your child participate in Reflections, send in a covered dish for Staff Appreciation lunch, donate a food item to the food drive etc. Whatever options work for you and your family, the goal is to support our school and demonstrate to your child that school and learning are important. Check out the calendar for more information.
